ABOUT ME

I suppose an about me page is required to be eloquent and smart. I suspect it is to help others learn about you, learn how you run your blog, learn about any products you sell, or things you find worth your time and, more importantly, how you will help them should they choose to follow you.

Whelp Sister (or Mister) all you need to know about this little piece of blogworld is in this picture.

Yep…. that’s me, sporting a sequin skirt and heels in a Florida pine forest. I mean, who doesn’t find themselves in a sequin skirt and heels in a pine forest at some point during the day? And that girly holding my hand and sassying it up next to me, that kiddo is fan-freaking-tasking. That kid knocks my socks off with her herpetology knowledge and her kind heart. She amazes me everyday with how she views the world. That sass Y’all, that is genuine sass. That is Southern Lass Sass.

Now move on over to that cute cowboy in his jeans and hat. That’s not for show Y’all, that is his daily outfit. He rocks those jeans and cowboy boots and that hat….. that boy is something. He is a fishing outdoors and pocket knife-wielding country boy. He is Texan through and through, don’t you dare say he is from Florida. No sir, he will correct you and fast. He is a funny little guy that makes us laugh and keeps me on my heeled toes.

Now finally that gentle, good-looking man, yeah he is a keeper. Y’all just don’t even understand how smart, and amazing he is. That man has loved me for 15 years and has never wavered, always steadfast. never complaining. He makes sure our family is taken care of and works hard for all of us. That man is my biggest cheerleader and without him telling me my dreams are not big enough, I’d never even try. He has been the love of my life since I was a wee babe of 19.

Who am I? About me?

I am God fearing. I am a mistake making redhead. I am a giant hot mess on a Sunday. I am a book lover, a homeschool teaching, animals are everywhere, missing Texas like crazy, trying to be a better parent, the kitchen came with the house, beach loving, Netflix watching, obsessed oil user, sweet tea and lemonade on a porch swing, just trying to pretend I have it all together, binder and planner obsessed, women.

What I do

As a lifestyle blogger, I have a unique opportunity to throw a bunch of spaghetti at the wall to see what sticks.  Not only, in doing this, have I made a mess, but I get to see how readers respond and bring content that is relevant to you. Interaction with the blog is by way of subscription and comments help me to better hone my skills to bring articles you want to read and tips you will use. I could talk all day about how I organized my Disney Binder but if zero of you are interested, is it really helpful?

I get to learn about you throughout our encounters together and I get to think up ways to serve you best. This truly is a service to you, my sweet readers who become friends. I want you to look to Wild Unruly and Loved for tips, tricks and enough “me too” moments that we become good friends.

I also write helpful book reviews so you can decide what your family will read, how exciting it will be, and ages best for the books listed. A sort of self-help with friendly advice thrown in, because…. us Southern women can’t but give advice on life from the front porch.

Enough about me.

Now…. let’s learn about you.

Hi, There I’m MacKenzie!

Loving Jesus, trough sized coffee mugs, frequent trips to the beach, and making random strangers uncomfortable, these are just some of my many talents. I am almost always a Pinterest fail and my laundry pile is frequently climbed by skilled mountaineers. Instagram post 2162716749178796688_1443281933 Sometimes you skip your planned science because your son is so enamored by a snail that he spends hours watching the snails' movements. He named him Little Freddy, built him a habitat of grass and moss and rocks, and observed him moving slowly along.
Today was a beautiful reminder that all we live in a world so full of natural beauty and we rarely take the time to truly appreciate it. "We are all meant to be naturalists, each in his own degree, and it is inexcusable to live in a world so full of the marvels of plant and animal life, and to care for none of these things." ~ Charlotte Mason

Instagram post 2149542729344179285_1443281933 Some little girls want to be princesses when they grow up. Our little girl wants to be a zoologist with special study in Herpetology. Since she was 18months old, before she knew her colors and shapes, she could pronounce lizard names. She has always enjoyed lizards, loves to cuddle snakes, and wants to someday work with crocodilians of all kinds. 🐊 Her favorite place is the @staugalligatorfarm We visit all the time (locals with passes). She always says hello to the big boys in the lagoon (her favorites are Fluffy and Scout), she loves the babies, and her favorite crocodilians are the Gharials. .
.
For her 13th birthday she asked for the behind the scenes tour. She left not only more in love with the farm than ever but also with a mission to enroll in the Santa Fe College zoology program. Look out St Augustine Alligator Farm, your future employee may only be in 8th grade now, but she is chomping at the bit to be surrounded by her favorite creatures on the planet.

Instagram post 2145816558608507304_1443281933 Homeschooling usually conjures up visions of happy, clean, dressed children sitting in a row, reciting Shakespeare and singing hymns. 🤷‍♀️
I dunno where those children live, but that isn't here. Some days, teaching the kids is more like trying to wrangle cats into a boat. As soon as one sits down, another pops up to go get a snack or just run around outside. ❤
Homeschooling is a completely different way at looking at education. It is extremely rewarding and extremely exhausting all at once. 😘
Personally, I'd rather be homeschooling because despite the hard days, I love teaching my muddy cats sign language. LOL

Instagram post 2145184530298262451_1443281933 Homeschooling can be so rewarding. It can open up worlds to your children that no other type of learning can. It can be frustrating at times too. Sometimes it comes easy but then something changes; a kid doesn't understand, a law changes, or the parent becomes burnt out and suddenly homeschooling is no longer a journey of learning but it becomes a chore.
Let's talk about this fellow homeschoolers. What do you struggle with in your homeschool? What is hard for you? What frustrates you?
We are not alone and I bet others struggle with the same things you do. Let's encourage each other!

Instagram post 2129268735680624169_1443281933 Hurricane Dorian pushed our homeschool start date back a week.
This year, Miss A is going into 8th with 3 high school classes and Little B is going into 2nd/3rd grade.
Homeschool: the only place I've never been late to. 🤷‍♀️ 10 years of perfect attendance 🤣

How many years have you celebrated perfect attendance in your homeschool?

Instagram post 2075680639517366438_1443281933 Our very favorite Texan turned 8 this week. Mr B is the jokester around here, the smuggler of cookies, and our favorite beginner archer.
His favorite music wobbles between Garth Brooks, George Strait, Tim Mcgraw, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and Gospel music. He enjoys riding horses, playing tennis, working on leather crafts, doing wood projects, and learning to do archery. His favorite things right now are Legos, Pokemon, robot building, and being out in nature camping, fishing, and using survival skills.
This little man is polite, holds doors for others, loves his mama, respects his daddy, and looks out for his sister. He loves Jesus, his friends in Sunday School, and his pastor.
When B grows up, he wants to be either a cowboy, a handcrafter, or someone who makes stuff.
Happy 8th Birthday sweet man.
